Viktor Borisov-Musastov
"Spring," 1898–1900
I’ll be your light, strength, wind, bread, sky.
Lose your way? I’m the path—walk without fear.
Thirsty? I’ll be a stream—drink.
Need rest in darkness? I’ll flare as fire, rise as smoke—see me.
I become all you love. At dawn, look out—recognize me.
Battle against dry grass? That’s me.
Blooming violet—feel my tenderness.
Bird, titmouse singing at daybreak—hear me.
Nightingale’s whistle—leaves, dew—that’s me.
Clouds above the garden… At peace? Know—my love is near, above, always.
I’ve known you among many. Our paths are one.
Wherever you go, you’ll meet me—see me, love me, forever.
