These photos show what seem to be the best-known representatives of a whole new sub-class of furniture that originated in the early 1950s. These chairs were designed in the late 1950s and early 1960s by George Mulhauser, a very talented designer who had previously successfully collaborated with George Nelson and Paul McCobb, and were manufactured using a single sheet of plywood.
