Перед вами очередной дизайнерский дуэт и его работа, представленная на выставке Копенгагенской гильдии краснодеревщиков ровно 60 лет назад. Того, кто находится слева на заглавной фотографии, звали Пребен Фабрициус, а того, кто справа, - Йорген Кастхольм. Архитекторы по образованию, Фабрициус и Кастхольм познакомились во время учебы в Датской школе дизайна интерьера, где их преподавателями были Финн Юль и Арне Якобсен. В 1961 г. дизайнеры основали студию, которая просуществовала до 1968 г. За это время Фабрициус и Кастхольм стали авторами значительного количества предметов быта, в том числе и кресла «Plico» (лат. я складываю), дизайн которого сложился из задач спроектировать комфортабельное и компактное кресло.

Для знакомства с этим дуэтом мы выбрали именно эту работу, поскольку союз древесины и металла в ней отсылает к ранним этапам профессионального пути дизайнеров: Фабрициус учился столярному делу, а Кастхольм – металлообработке.

Please meet yet another designer duo alongside one of their works that was displayed at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in Copenhagen sixty years ago. The one on the left is Preben Fabricius and the one on the right is Jørgen Kastholm. Professional architects, the two met during their studies at the Danish School for Interior Design where both of them had Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen as their teachers. In 1961, the designers opened their own studio that operated until late 1968 producing quite a number of remarkable designs for home and office use, including the Plico (the Latin for “I fold”) which was inspired by a two-fold problem: the need for a comfortable lounger that would take as little storage space as possible.

The reason we’re featuring this particular chair in our first post about this prominent duo is that the synergy of wood and metal in it alludes to the professional synergy of the designers – Fabricius was originally trained as a cabinetmaker while Kastholm studied blacksmithing.
