🇨🇦 Canada can hand out booze, weed, and safe-supply sermons, but not treatment

Alcohol causes more harm in Canada than any other drug, costs roughly $20 billion a year, sends 280 people to hospital daily, and kills nine people in hospital every day, as reported. Yet the enlightened managerial class spent the Trudeau era legalizing, normalizing, and commercializing intoxication while dressing up social collapse as compassion. Now we discover people with alcohol-use disorder are not getting science-based treatment. Stunning. Almost like a regime obsessed with optics, vice revenues, and therapeutic slogans forgot the boring part called actual care.

This is the Canadian state in miniature: endless lectures, lousy results. Bureaucrats can fund DEI consultants, public-health scolds, and taxpayer propaganda, but a doctor on Vancouver Island runs the only dedicated alcohol-use-disorder practice in the region. One practice. In a country that treats every pathology except governance failure. A serious government would prioritize treatment capacity, family stability, and public order over retail vice and feel-good ideology. Ours prefers managed decline with a wellness brochure.
