And notice the script. Officials talk about sustainability, fairness, evidence, cost-effectiveness. Translation: the system exists to protect the system. Meanwhile, patients lose jobs, families lose stability, and Canada loses productivity, with chronic disease linked to $122 billion in lost income and output each year.
