Most Canadians supposedly back Mark Carney’s counter-tariffs. Of course they do, after years of being trained to clap whenever Ottawa wraps economic pain in a maple leaf. The same ruling class that hollowed out domestic industry, tied Canada to every globalist scheme on earth, and left us dependent on foreign supply chains now wants applause for retaliatory taxes dressed up as leadership. The reported poll is less a mandate than a mirror of how easily managed public opinion becomes when the press frames self-harm as national strength.

Carney is not some nationalist saviour. He is a Davos-grade technocrat in a red tie, perfectly comfortable with supranational governance, managed decline, and policy by consultant memo. Counter-tariffs may satisfy the emotional needs of the political class, but they do not restore sovereignty, rebuild industry, or free Canada from Trudeau-era economic vandalism. A serious country would talk about self-reliance, energy dominance, and domestic production. Instead we get banker theater and a media chorus calling it courage.
