A 214-page Alberta transition plan is now being treated like some fringe fantasy, but the real absurdity is that Ottawa spent a decade making it sound rational. After Trudeau-era equalization looting, regulatory strangulation, and federal sabotage of the energy sector that actually pays the bills, Albertans are being told to trust the same national machinery that keeps milking them dry. Even the plan admits borders, debt, pensions, assets and infrastructure would be a negotiation minefield, as reported.

Keith Wilson says this would not be starting from scratch, just changing the payroll. Crude line, but not wrong. The deeper point is that Canada under the Laurentian cartel no longer behaves like a serious federation. It behaves like a transfer union with moral lectures attached. Of course support for secession is still a minority view. Most people understand the costs. But every net-zero diktat, every anti-oil sermon, every media sneer from central Canada pushes Alberta one step closer to concluding that sovereignty beats managed decline.
