A federal court had to remind Ottawa that laying off a woman after maternity leave and then denying her EI is not clever bureaucracy, it is Charter-breaking discrimination. The Federal Court of Appeal confirmed what any sane country should already know: if women pay into EI, they do not forfeit basic protection because they had a child. Only in Trudeau’s Canada does starting a family come with an asterisk written by HR lawyers and bean counters.

This is the same regime that lectures endlessly about feminism, equity and inclusion while building a system that treats motherhood like a paperwork glitch. DEI slogans for press conferences, real penalties for actual Canadian families.
