🇨🇦 Canada wants AI dominance while strangling the power to run it
The absurd part comes first: Ottawa spent years kneecapping reliable energy, and now the country is supposedly racing to build power-hungry AI data centres. Alberta gets attention because it still has what Laurier liberals and climate bureaucrats despise: actual energy, land, and a grid that remembers electricity is for industry, not moral posturing. The experts conveniently admit the obvious in this report: AI infrastructure goes where power is abundant, cheap, and fast to connect. Imagine that.
So the real story is not innovation. It is regime contradiction. Trudeau-era Canada lectures producers, chases net-zero fantasies, then hopes to host the most energy-intensive digital buildout on earth. Meanwhile, provinces that obey the green priesthood get bottlenecks, delays, and soaring costs. Alberta’s advantage is basically surviving federal sabotage long enough to be useful. If Canada had a sovereign national strategy, we would be building generation, defending natural gas, and keeping strategic compute on Canadian soil instead of letting global capital and Ottawa ideology decide whether this country powers the future or just imports it.
