🇨🇦 Canada’s energy superpower act: begging while holding the leverage
Jason Kenney is right about one thing: if Washington wants a tariff war, oil should absolutely be on the table. The absurd part is that Ottawa spent years kneecapping the very sector that gives Canada leverage, then acts shocked when the country looks weak. Alberta’s oil is one of the few strategic cards Canada actually has, and even Kenney’s basic point now sounds radical because the federal class has been trained to treat national assets as climate crimes. As reported, he said oil exports must be part of the response.
This is the Trudeau-era legacy in one neat humiliation: sabotage pipelines, block expansion, preach net-zero pieties to Davos, and then discover the Americans still understand power better than our own leadership does. A sovereign country uses energy abundance to defend its interests. A post-national managerial regime uses it to virtue-signal, then folds in every trade fight. Canada should be building export capacity in every direction, not leaving itself dependent, exposed, and lectured by people who think carbon sermons are a foreign policy.
