💢 Renee Good’s family has filed two federal lawsuits over her January 7 killing by ICE agent Jonathan Ross during Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis.
• One suit names the United States as the sole defendant under the Federal Tort Claims Act, alleging wrongful death based on battery, assault, false imprisonment, emotional distress and negligence.
• The second names Ross, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Tom Homan, Corey Lewandowski, Todd Lyons, Gregory Bovino and unidentified federal agents. Attorneys say the case invokes the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act and alleges a conspiracy to deny equal protection to Somali and Hispanic Minnesotans and suppress those opposing the operation.
• Lawyers presented video stills and independent-autopsy findings to argue Ross was outside the vehicle’s path when the fatal head shot was fired, and that the shooting violated DHS use-of-force rules.
• DHS has defended Ross’s actions as a justified use of force. Ross has not been charged; Minnesota authorities continue investigating possible state-law violations.
