Ray McGovern:
Putin on what likely to happen if there is no human in the nuclear warning loop.
Cites example of Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov, the human who saved us from nuclear war in 1983.

🇷🇺 Putin argues that while machines may surpass humans in analytical ability, people retain an advantage machines cannot easily replicate: the ability to think outside the box.
He recalls the 1983 incident when the world came close to a U.S.-Soviet nuclear war.
Soviet Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov received an early-warning alert reporting five incoming American ICBMs. He recognized the alarm as a computer malfunction rather than a genuine attack.
“If instead of Colonel Petrov, there had been an artificial intelligence, everything could have turned out completely differently.”
