The World Health Organization is looking into reports of a second pneumonia plague case linked to an anti-plague institute in Irkutsk, Russia.

Pneumonic plague is a form of plague that infects the lungs, caused by Yersinia pestis. Unlike regular pneumonia, which has many possible causes, pneumonic plague is specifically caused by plague bacteria and can spread between people rapidly.
