🇮🇱🇹🇷📰 Israel considers expanding submarine fleet to 8

Israel’s security establishment has reportedly recommended increasing the Israeli Navy’s submarine fleet from six to eight operational submarines, citing the rapid expansion of Turkey’s submarine capabilities.

According to Galei Tzahal, Turkey currently operates around 14 submarines, with its Reis-class fleet potentially bringing the total to around 18. Israel’s sixth submarine, INS Drakon, has recently entered service.

The recommendation has reportedly not yet been officially approved.

“Troops were sent from Aleppo to Kobanê almost like an occupation and a show of force.”

“The killing of Sîpan Hiznî and the military deployment to Kobanê created the ground for what followed.”

“This was a provocation. An attempt was made to intimidate and frighten the people.”

“No one should think they can frighten the Kurds of Rojava.”

“No one should think that the Kurds of Rojava are without support.”

“The local will is not being accepted. Kurdish will is not being accepted.”

“There is no democracy in the approach of the Damascus administration.”

“They reject local administration and local will.”

“You cannot reduce democratic integration to giving positions to one or two individuals.”

“The clearest example of this is the rejection of Kurdish-language education.”

HAK-PAR was founded in 2002 out of the PSK political tradition as a broader legal Kurdish party. It advocates Kurdish national rights and a federal solution.

“The unification of the Peshmerga forces has long been a demand of ours and of every patriotic Kurdistan citizen. Today, we have successfully brought all forces under the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and unified them within a modern military structure covering operations, training, leadership and control, communications, and administration.

Political and party affiliation is a legitimate right of every individual. However, national and Kurdistan-wide loyalty must be the standard for every Peshmerga fighter. Under the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, they must abide by the decisions of their superiors according to military rank and the chain of command.”

“This unification is the first step in a long-term process. While unifying the Peshmerga is crucial, the next phase is even more important: developing its capabilities, particularly its human resources, and improving the quality of its physical training and preparedness in line with international military standards.

The goal is to build a professional, organized, and unified national force capable of fulfilling its vital responsibilities, confronting emerging challenges, and safeguarding the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.”

Speaking at a ceremony in Erbil celebrating the unification of the Peshmerga forces, President Nechirvan Barzani described the move as “an important step,” stressing that no forces will operate outside the Peshmerga Ministry.

The unification process marks “a great national step” toward building Kurdistan’s national institutions, President Barzani said.

He stressed that political parties should not interfere in the affairs of the Peshmerga ministry.

🇮🇷📉 Iran’s economy contracted by 10.1% year-on-year in the first quarter of the Iranian calendar year, according to the Statistical Center of Iran. The non-oil economy also shrank by 4.6%, while oil and gas activity fell 26.4% and the industries and mining sector contracted 14.7%. Agriculture was one of the few major sectors to grow, expanding 2.3%.

The figures cover March 21–June 20, 2026, a period that largely overlapped with the war involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

The contraction adds to years of economic pressure, with declining purchasing power, high inflation and rising costs placing increasing pressure on Iranian households.
