📌 Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian has described short films as the voice of today’s generation and an opportunity for the creative narration of the realities of Iran and the world.
Iran is home to a people who, across the ages and sustained by their authentic culture and brilliant civilization, have consistently contributed to science and art, turning the efforts and creativity of successive generations into an enduring legacy for posterity, said Pezeshkian in a message to the 43rd Tehran International Short Film Festival, which will be held from October 17 to 22, 2026.
Today, this path continues in the thinking of the new generation, the message added.
Cinema is one of the most important languages for narrating this life and this culture, a language that can portray what people see, experience, and desire for their future, and share it with others, Pezeshkian stated.
By offering room for fresh perspectives, new experiences, and creative storytelling, short film conveys, truthfully and artistically, a portion of the reality of contemporary Iran and the world, he noted.
The Tehran International Short Film Festival serves as a valuable platform for these perspectives to converge and for dialogue between Iranian and international filmmakers, laying the groundwork for nations to better understand one another and for people to draw closer through art and culture, he stressed.
Now more than ever, we require art and narratives that draw people closer, open the way for dialogue and mutual understanding, and search for hope, empathy, and the prospect of building a better future within the everyday fabric of people’s lives, Pezeshkian wrote.
