📌 Tehran, IRNA – Former Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif has criticized US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his speechwriter, saying neither appeared to understand the content of their remarks.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Zarif reacted to recent comments made by Rubio regarding Iranian civilization, emphasizing that these remarks attempt to portray the West’s hostility toward Iran as a civilizational conflict and to revive Huntington’s “Clash of Civilizations” theory in a superficial and unacademic manner.
He described Rubio as an opponent of negotiations in the United States and attributed his comments to a lack of understanding of world affairs.
On the role of the media in modern warfare and hybrid warfare, Zarif said, “In my view, the media plays a very important role, because we live in a world today where narratives play a decisive role. Those who are able to shape narratives are better positioned to advance their objectives.”
He stressed that the effective use of media to communicate and establish one’s perspectives plays an important role in advancing objectives in the multidimensional arena of hybrid warfare.
Zarif stressed that credibility is the most important factor in shaping narratives, and losing it means surrendering control of the narrative to others.
