📌 Tehran, IRNA – In a symbolic gesture marking Tehran Day, several of Mexico City’s most iconic landmarks, including the Zócalo, the Angel of Independence, and the Cuahtémoc Monument, were illuminated in the colors of Iran’s flag.
The ceremony, attended by Iran’s Ambassador to Mexico Abolfazl Pasandideh and Mexico City officials, featured both countries’ national anthems and highlighted the cultural friendship between the two nations.
Pasandideh expressed appreciation for the illumination of four prominent symbols of that country’s capital in the colors of Iran’s flag.
Three weeks ago, the Azadi Tower, whose name means freedom, in Tehran was lit up in the colors of Mexico’s flag, and now the Independence Square is being lit up in the colors of Iran’s flag, he said.
The national anthems of Mexico and the Islamic Republic of Iran were also played in the event.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mexico, expressing appreciation to the Mexico City government, described this action as a meaningful sign of friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.
Iran’s Ambassador voiced his hope that ties of friendship between Iran and Mexico would deepen further across academic institutions, cultural domains, and people-to-people exchanges.
