💭 Apple started rolling out end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging between iPhone and Android users

📰 The feature is currently available in beta for users running iOS 26.5 with supported carriers and Android users on the latest version of Google Messages.

🤝 Apple says it worked together with Google and the GSMA to bring E2EE to RCS — the modern messaging standard replacing traditional SMS.

🔒 Encrypted chats are marked with a lock icon, and encryption is enabled by default. This means messages sent between iPhones and Android devices can no longer be read by Apple, Google, carriers, or third parties during transmission.
