The prototypes reportedly consist of a thin fabric band and a sensor-equipped computing module, with no screen in sight – the key difference from the display-driven Apple Watch.
• The move comes as competitors such as Whoop and smart ring maker Oura are growing quickly, with millions of users each, prompting Apple to reconsider its approach to health and fitness tracking. Notably, Oura filed for an IPO this month, and Whoop is now valued at about $10 billion.
• The project is currently in the "technology investigation" phase, and it's reportedly backed by Apple executives Tim Cook and Eddy Cue, with engineers from the Vision hardware team involved in development.
📆 Apple hasn't decided whether to release the product, and if it moves forward, it likely wouldn't launch until at least 2028.
