🤖 Instagram Lets You Control Your Reels with AI
#news #Insta

The AI suggests topics it thinks you like from fitness to movies and you can boost your favorites or remove the ones you don’t. You can even type in your own interests to make your Reels feed feel totally personal.

Launching first in the U.S., this feature gives users more control over what pops up in Reels, with plans to expand globally and eventually bring similar tweaks to Explore.

🧪Instagram Tests “Early Access” Reels to Boost Follower Growth
#news #Insta

Want to see a creator’s newest Reel before anyone else? Instagram is testing an “Early Access” feature where some Reels are locked — only followers can watch them initially.

These Reels show a blurred preview with a “clock + star” icon and a timer. Viewers are prompted to follow the creator to unlock the video, creating hype and encouraging more followers before the content goes public.

This builds on Instagram’s earlier locked Reels idea but focuses more on audience growth, giving creators a way to reward loyal followers and generate buzz around upcoming posts. Currently, the feature is limited to a small group of creators.

⬅️Instagram Staff Must Return to Office Full-Time in 2026
#news #Insta

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri is calling most U.S.-based employees back to the office five days a week starting February 2, 2026. This move affects those with assigned desks, though fully remote staff remain unaffected. To make office life less tedious, Mosseri is cutting down on recurring meetings and limiting strategy documents to three pages, encouraging teams to focus on prototypes instead of endless slides. The goal is to boost productivity while keeping distractions low.

Some flexibility for occasional remote work is allowed, but the overall message is clear: Instagram is going “all in” on in-person collaboration next year.

⏺Instagram’s Accidental Repost Button Appears — Then Disappears
#news #Insta

Ever seen a “Repost” button on Instagram and wondered what it did? For a brief moment, some users got a new option to share posts and reels directly to their feed like a retweet but it vanished almost as quickly as it appeared.

People reported that the button disappeared even after updating or reinstalling the app, leaving many scratching their heads. Experts suspect it was a glitch or an accidental early rollout of a feature not ready for everyone yet. Bottom line: Instagram tried to give users a new way to share content, but for now… it’s gone, poof!

🔤Instagram’s Hashtag Limit Shake-Up: Millennial Nightmare or Gen Z Evolution?
#news #Insta

Instagram is testing a change that could shake up how people post: some users can now only use up to three hashtags per post. Previously, you could add up to 30 to boost reach, but the platform’s algorithm now focuses more on content and user behavior than hashtag volume.

While older users see hashtags as essential for visibility, younger users (Gen Z) may not care as much, treating them as outdated. This shift shows Instagram is evolving how posts are discovered and maybe nudging everyone toward a cleaner, content-first feed.

All removals are expected to be completed by December 10, 2025 — making Meta the strict online age gatekeeper Down Under.

Instagram’s AI Age Gate Hits Australia
#news #Insta

Australia is enforcing a rule that bans under‑16s from Instagram, and Meta is using an AI age-verification system to enforce it.

Users near the cutoff may need a video selfie or ID. Adults pass easily, but younger teens are blocked, showing the system isn’t perfect and can make mistakes, especially for those close to 16 or from minority groups. The ban starts 10 December 2025, deactivating accounts of under‑16s and stopping new sign-ups.

📱Instagram Users Might Be Overestimating Their Addiction
#news #Insta

A new study shows that although many Instagram users believe they’re addicted to the app, very few actually meet the criteria for addiction. In a sample of 380 U.S. adult Instagram users, 18% said they felt at least somewhat addicted but only 2% actually displayed behaviours consistent with genuine addiction (cravings, withdrawal, or loss of control).

The research suggests what feels like “addiction” may often just be habit. Frequent media references framing heavy social‑media use as “addiction” might influence how users interpret their own behaviour, making them feel less in control than they really are.

⛔️Billboards Taking a Swing at Instagram Get Blocked
#news #Insta

A bold campaign called #IgnoredByInsta aimed to call out Instagram for scams, hacked accounts, and poor user support but the billboards never made it live. Media buyers reportedly pulled the ads because Meta, Instagram’s parent company, is still a major client.

Created by agency Insiders with advocacy group Refundee, the campaign flipped Instagram’s polished image on its head, showing the real struggles of hacked accounts, fake DMs, and emotional distress, things Instagram often ignores.

Even though the billboards were blocked, the move sparked a bigger conversation about corporate influence over advertising and who gets to control public messages. The campaign also launched a petition demanding faster human-led support and clearer reporting tools for Instagram users.

Turns out, silencing the message only made it louder.
