👾Meta Kicks Teens Off Instagram & Facebook Sooner Than Expected
#news #Insta

Think you can sneak past Meta if you’re under 16? Not anymore! Meta has begun warning Australian users it believes are underage that they have just 14 days to “download or delete” their data from Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. Although Australia’s law banning under-16s from these platforms begins on Dec 10, 2025, Meta will start deactivating accounts from Dec 4.

If someone thinks they’ve been wrongly flagged as under 16, they can appeal with a video selfie age scan or government ID. Meta advises affected users to save their posts, messages, and other data, then they can regain access once they turn 16.

♾Instagram Reels Gets a Copycat Alert Tool
#news #Insta

Worried someone’s stealing your Reels on Instagram or Facebook? Meta has your back! They’ve launched a new tool that alerts creators when their Instagram Reels are being reposted or copied.

When a Reel closely matches yours, you’ll get notified — plus insights on views and whether the other account is monetizing it. You can track, block, or add attribution to make sure everyone knows it’s your original content. You can even create an “allow list” for trusted collaborators so their reposts don’t trigger alerts. For now, it’s mobile-only, but Meta is testing a desktop version too.

Currently, it’s rolling out for creators in Meta’s monetization programs or using Rights Manager — basically, your Instagram Reels just got a personal bodyguard.

🦠Instagram and WhatsApp Stay with Meta After U.S. Antitrust Battle
#news #Insta

Think the FTC could force Meta to sell Instagram or WhatsApp? Not anymore! A U.S. judge has ruled that Meta does not hold a monopoly in social media, blocking the government’s push to break up the company.

The court noted the rise of rivals like TikTok and YouTube, highlighting that competition is stronger than ever. So Instagram and WhatsApp aren’t going anywhere. This decision is a major win for Meta and a setback for the FTC, showing Big Tech still has room to breathe under U.S. antitrust law.

It’s a handy way to benchmark your performance without leaving the app, though the data’s still pretty basic — no deep engagement or click metrics yet.

Looks like Instagram’s giving marketers a small but solid peek at the other side of the fence.

❌Instagram & Facebook Accounts Wrongfully Suspended
#news #Insta

Ever had your Instagram or Facebook account suddenly taken down? Thousands of users report similar wrongful suspensions, blaming Meta’s AI moderation for mistakes. The affected creators are now calling for better transparency and a more reliable appeals process. Basically… your account could get pulled without warning, and getting it back is a whole ordeal.

📱Instagram Rolls Out Skippable Ads on Reels
#news #Insta

Ever get stuck watching an ad in the middle of a Reel and wish you could skip it? Well, Instagram is now testing skippable ads inside Reels yes, just like YouTube.

A tiny countdown timer pops up, and once it hits zero, you can tap Skip and continue scrolling. But here’s the catch: creators aren’t getting revenue from these ads during the testing phase. So while users get more control, creators get… nothing (for now).

The goal is to help brands reach more viewers without annoying people, but whether this becomes permanent depends on how often people skip vs. watch. Basically, Instagram said: “Okay fine… you can skip. But we’re watching what you do.”

🛡 Instagram Faces Kid Safety Crackdown in Denmark
#news #Insta

Denmark is turning up the heat on Instagram and other social apps after finding that most kids under 13 are using social media anyway. The government is pushing a new rule that could ban children under 13 from having accounts at all, and even 13–15 year-olds would only be allowed with parental approval and age verification.

Instagram is one of the main platforms being warned to tighten age checks, or risk major fines if it doesn’t comply. The plan includes verifying identities through Denmark’s national digital ID system to make sure younger kids can’t just fake their age in the app. Basically, Denmark told Instagram: “If kids are in here, you’re responsible for keeping them safe.”

#news #Insta

Instagram’s still got the spotlight in Europe! Meta’s new transparency report shows Instagram leading with 281.8M monthly users, while Facebook trails behind at 263.6M across the EU.

🔥Instagram Under Fire for Violent Reels Content
#news #Insta

Scrolling for laughs and vibes… and suddenly seeing real-life violence? 😬 A new CBS investigation found that Instagram’s Reels algorithm has been pushing graphic and disturbing videos to users who didn’t even search for them.

🔞 Some of these clips show fights, injuries, and even real-world attacks—sometimes appearing in feeds of younger users. Meta apologized, saying a “system error” caused some violent content to surface, but many of the videos are still allowed because they don’t technically break the platform’s rules.

📉 Basically: Instagram said “we’re keeping things safe,” but the algorithm was out here acting like a chaos DJ. 💥

👮‍♀️ Instagram’s Parent Company Accused of Profiting From Scam Ads
#news #Insta

People have been complaining about scam ads on Instagram for years… and now there’s data backing it up. A new investigation says Meta (Instagram’s parent company) may be making billions from ads linked to scams, fake investments, and shady “get rich quick” schemes. 😬

💸 Internal documents suggest Meta earns money from these ads even when they’re flagged as high-risk, and only removes advertisers when it’s almost 100% sure they’re fraudulent. That means tons of sketchy ads slip through and still run across Instagram and Facebook.

📉 The report claims Meta could be making around $16 billion a year from this type of ad activity alone. So while users think they’re just scrolling… scammers might be paying Meta to reach them.

Basically: Instagram said “we care about safety,” but the ad system is out here acting like a VIP promoter for scammers. 🕶

🔖Instagram Gets a Legal “Time Out” Over PG-13 Labels
#news #Insta

Instagram’s been labeling some of its content controls with the familiar “PG-13” tag… but the Motion Picture Association (the folks who actually own that rating system) is not amused.

🎬The MPA has sent Meta a cease-and-desist letter saying: Stop using our rating labels, it’s misleading. Their argument is that movie ratings are decided by human review panels, while Instagram’s age filters are automated — so calling them “PG-13” makes it seem officially certified when it’s not.

📌 Meta says it didn’t mean to imply it was an official film rating, but hasn’t said whether it’ll change the feature.

So yeah… Hollywood just told Instagram to stay in its lane.
