👩‍🍳 Hyperliquid OTC HYPE Sale

Hyperliquid Labs will sell 3.75 million HYPE to an institutional investor via an OTC deal. The tokens come from the October team unlock and are worth about $320 million at current prices.

Unstaking starts September 30, with distribution on October 7. The tokens will not be sold on the open market. The September team unlock was moved and combined with October’s through the OTC deal.

The total October HYPE unlock is estimated at about $860 million, so the deal covers only part of the supply that could reach the market in the coming days.

OpenAI is targeting $30 billion in new funding at a $1.4 trillion valuation as listing plans are postponed, Bloomberg reported.

On September 19, the discussed valuation was $1.2 trillion. Sam Altman ruled out an IPO in 2026, with investor details and closing timeline undisclosed.

🇺🇸 Fed Rate Hike Case Weakens

The case for a Fed rate hike just got weaker. JOLTs job openings fell to 7.079M, below expectations, while job quits rose to 3.06M from July.

More people left jobs as hiring slowed, a classic sign of softening labor demand. This alone will not decide the Fed’s decision.

US unemployment data arrives Friday. If unemployment rises, the Fed will be forced to pause rates, as hiking into a weakening labor market could cripple the economy.

💲 Tether Freezes $550M in USDT

In 2026, Tether supported freezing about $550 million in USDT linked by US authorities to Iran’s Central Bank and sanctions-evasion networks.

At OFAC and US law enforcement’s request, more than $344 million was blocked across two addresses in April. The next day, US Treasury designated them as Iran’s Central Bank digital-currency identifiers. In July, more than $130 million was frozen across four wallets after the designation expanded to TRON addresses.

😞 Ether.fi Exits EigenLayer Restaking

Ether.fi (ETHFI) ends ties with EigenLayer (EIGEN) this quarter. Under 1% of its assets remain in restaking. Restaking left weETH in August, so users seeking its yield must use weETHs on Symbiotic.

CEO Mike Silagadze cited risk-return. On September 8, restaking’s $10 billion TVL generated ~$100,000 in weekly fees, versus $27.35 million from liquid staking’s $51.87 billion, or 53 times more per dollar. Ended point programs and EigenLayer’s slashing, introduced in April 2025, also hurt.

Now EigenCloud, the protocol shifted to verifiable computing. Assets fell from $22 billion in August 2025 to $5.1 billion now. Ether.fi is focusing on neobanking, an Optimism lending product and tokenized assets.
