And he said to us, “Always think that you’re writing a series of plays.” And this is really useful advice because it means that you don’t feel as though you have to throw the kitchen sink into the thing that you’re writing there and then. If you have say a bit of text that you completely love, erm, but it does quite fit the play, you can just save it for the next one. And I find that really liberating. I find that really useful.
