🇧🇭 | 57 prisoners launch hunger strike at Bahrain’s Jau Central Prison:
57 prisoners in Wing No. 2 of Bahrain’s Jau Central Prison have been on hunger strike since October 4, protesting harsh detention conditions and demanding their basic rights.
Bahraini human rights activist Ibtisam al-Sayegh announced the strike and expressed concern over the deteriorating physical condition of some of the participants.
According to al-Sayegh, the hunger strike initially began with 47 prisoners from Wings 4, 5 and 6. On October 7, another 10 prisoners from Wing No. 3 joined the protest, bringing the total number of hunger strikers to 57.
Citing information received from inside the prison, al-Sayegh reported that some hunger strikers had experienced drops in blood sugar levels, while several had collapsed due to physical weakness.
