— The Iraqi regime should not be spared so easily on the issue of banning Iranian flights to and from Iran. Whatever it may be, Iranian flights are banned at all major airports, and this is an open assault on the two biggest Islamic nations and the pilgrimage of millions throughout the year.

This must be raised as a serious issue by the entire Iraq, not only by the Shia, as hundreds of thousands of companies, businesses, and people whose travel and economic interests are tied to this route are also affected. Otherwise, accepting this and sitting silently will expose the weakest position of Iraq, which could easily be attacked and dragged by its enemies.

And yes, hopefully, Iranian policy will not include escalation for the sake of escalation, or a “siege for siege” scenario.

Tehran is intensifying its rhetoric regarding the “either sell oil to everyone or no one” equation, while denying Washington’s claims about a “free pass.” This equation is primarily directed at the Americans, but it also addresses the Iranian people who are suffering due to the sanctions, as well as the people and countries of the region. At some point, Iranians may find themselves forced to change the game.
