With growing fears that AI will take down financial infrastructure, G7 nations on the sidelines of a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting in Bangkok agreed to conduct a simulation to prepare for an AI cyberattack.

Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama told Reuters, “The G7 finance deputies had been discussing ⁠the idea of doing tabletop exercises on frontier AI, which was signed off at the ministerial level.”

The plan will feature simulations evolved by G7 finance authorities to test how they can respond to AI-driven cyber attacks, ‌said ⁠a Japanese finance ministry official who attended the finance leaders’ meeting.

For years the Gulf monarchies have been told that the path to security runs through Washington and Tel Aviv.
