With growing fears that AI will take down financial infrastructure, G7 nations on the sidelines of a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting in Bangkok agreed to conduct a simulation to prepare for an AI cyberattack.

Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama told Reuters, ā€œThe G7 finance deputies had been discussing the idea of doing tabletop exercises on frontier AI, which was signed off at the ministerial level.ā€

Reuters noted:
The plan will feature simulations evolved by G7 finance authorities to test how they can respond to AI-driven cyber attacks, ā€Œsaid a Japanese finance ministry official who attended the finance leaders’ meeting.
