The IEA Speeds Up 20 Million Barrels of Diesel. That Is About Five Days of U.S. Use, Not Cheap Diesel by the Midterms - Energy News Beat
5 more days of oil...
Filling a 30-gallon pickup tank with diesel this morning costs about $190. A year ago it was about $109. A trucker putting 200 gallons in a rig pays about $1,265, up from $730 (AAA; ENB calculation). And if your house heats with oil, a 275-gallon delivery at this week’s federal average of $6.14 runs about $1,688, against $974 last October (EIA; ENB calculation).
On Thursday, the International Energy Agency agreed to accelerate the release of more than 20 million barrels of diesel, with no timeline. By our math, that is about 17 hours of world demand, or five days of U.S. use.
