The Standard Model's development began in the 1960s and continued through the 1970s. It is an amalgamation of various theories and discoveries by numerous physicists. The initial conceptual foundation was laid by the works of Sheldon Glashow, Abdus Salam, and Steven Weinberg, who unified the weak and electromagnetic interactions.

توسعه مدل استاندارد در دهه 1960 آغاز شد و تا دهه 1970 ادامه یافت. مدل، تلفیقی از نظریه ها و اکتشافات مختلف فیزیکدانان متعدد است. مبانی مفهومی اولیه توسط آثار شلدون گلاشو، عبدالسلام و استیون واینبرگ، کسانی که برهمکنش‌های ضعیف و الکترومغناطیسی را متحد کردند، پی ریزی شد.
