🚀 Market Movers (Past 24h)
17 Oct 2026

ZRO: $1.92 | −12.85%

STRK: $0.0702 | −8.05%

APT: $0.8180 | −7.71%

FET: $0.1924 | −7.28%

ARB: $0.1865 | −7.00%

Behind the Moves

Yesterday’s altcoin rebound lost momentum as Bitcoin slipped back toward $81,400. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $82.39 million in net outflows on October 16, keeping institutional demand concerns in focus as the market headed into the weekend.

ZRO gives back its rally as the next unlock approaches

• ZRO dropped back below $2 after yesterday’s sharp rebound. The reversal is consistent with profit-taking as the broader market softened, with an October 20 token unlock adding a potential supply headwind.

STRK remains under pressure as speculative excitement cools

• Active addresses fell 63% and new-wallet activity 81% between October 11 and 13, santiment finds. The earlier retreat has been the fading enthusiasm around the proposed Layer 1 transition following the initial surge

• The 127 million STRK unlock on October 15 added potential selling supply while momentum was already weakening. It remains a relevant headwind.

ARB retreats after its rally and scheduled supply release

• ARB’s pullback follows yesterday’s rebound and the 92.65 million ARB released yesterday which had been allocated to team members, advisors and investors. The supply event could be weighing on sentiment despite the recent stablecoin incentive announcement.

The CB Weekly Market Recap (Oct 11th - Oct 17th, 2026) ⚡️

🔴 The Nasdaq closed Friday at 26,140.03, down 4.5% on the week and its worst showing since June. The S&P 500 finished at 7,659.44, off 1.9%, while the Russell 2000 fell 3% to 2,721.37. The Dow was the exception, gaining 0.7% over the week to 52,002.41. It touched a one-month high during Friday’s session as banks outperformed, although it ultimately closed the day lower.

🔴 September CPI landed hot on Wednesday at 0.6% for the month and 3.7% annually, up from August’s 3.4%. Core inflation also exceeded expectations, rising 0.3% monthly against a 0.2% forecast, with the annual rate climbing from 2.4% to 2.6%. Gasoline prices jumped 9.1% and accounted for more than half the monthly headline increase. Airline fares were another pressure point, rising 22.4% over the past year.

🔴 CoreWeave lost roughly 25% on the week, closing Friday at $61.39 after an 11.9% drop in the session. Some of its bond yields climbed above 15%, while credit-default swap spreads exceeded 1,000 basis points. Borrowings and lease liabilities totalled roughly $51.6 billion at June 30th, leaving the company heavily dependent on external financing to fund its expansion. BNP Paribas warned that traditional parent-company debt financing was becoming increasingly uneconomic, potentially pushing it towards convertible debt and equity issuance.

🔴 The Philadelphia semiconductor index fell 3.8% on Friday for an eighth consecutive losing session. Software joined the selloff, with the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF dropping 4.8%. Nebius fell 12.2% and IREN 11.2% as pressure spread through the neocloud sector. At one point on Wednesday, declines in CoreWeave, Nebius, Oracle and Dell had wiped roughly $80 billion from their combined market value.

🔴 JPMorgan reported a rare miss on both revenue and adjusted EPS on Tuesday. Net income still rose 6% to $15.3 billion on reported revenue of $50.2 billion, and the bank raised its 2026 net interest income guidance to $106.2 billion. Goldman beat expectations with $5.29 billion in quarterly profit, helped by a 72% jump in equities trading revenue against JPMorgan’s 49%. Bank of America reported EPS of 91 cents; on an adjusted basis, earnings were $1.08 against the $1.10 expected.

🔴 Brent touched $110 a barrel on Friday for the first time since May, settling at $109.86 for a weekly gain of 4.9%. WTI settled at $101.41, up 10.4% on the week. Renewed attacks on shipping around the Strait of Hormuz and threats to Saudi energy infrastructure intensified supply concerns. Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile headed towards Yanbu, while a Ukrainian drone attack forced Russia’s Ryazan refinery to halt a primary processing unit.

🔴 Treasuries found buyers despite the hot inflation data, with the 10-year yield falling roughly 13 basis points on Thursday as investors sought safety during the tech selloff. Friday trading left yields around 5.1%. Markets increasingly favoured a Fed hold on October 28th, while continuing to price further tightening. Warsh offered no explicit signal on the next decision, saying the economy had broadly performed as expected since September’s meeting.

🔴 Bitcoin finished Friday around $81,600 after trading above $84,000 earlier in the week and briefly slipping below $80,000 on Thursday. Ether finished near $2,420, roughly 3% below the previous Friday, after touching a Thursday low around $2,325. During the selloff, a rolling 24-hour CoinGlass snapshot showed approximately $942 million in liquidations, with long positions accounting for 91.6%.

🔴 Five tracked U.S. crypto ETF categories recorded combined net outflows of $610.7 million over October 12th–16th, with every category finishing negative. Ether funds led withdrawals at $320.1 million, ahead of Bitcoin’s $228.4 million—a notable inversion given the relative size of the two markets. Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid products accounted for the remaining $62.2 million. Total withdrawals were roughly 52.5% lower than the previous week’s $1.29 billion.

🔴 As for next week, earnings guidance and financing plans deserve close attention. For AI companies spending heavily on infrastructure, the question is how that expansion gets funded and when it starts paying for itself. Oil remains a wildcard, with Brent near $110 and renewed threats to regional supply routes. The Fed’s October 28th decision follows the week after, with markets leaning towards a hold. Stay sharp lads.

‼️ BRUTAL: Leopold Aschenbrenner rebuilt his AI bets after July’s forced liquidation, only to face ANOTHER sharp selloff.

He bought hundreds of millions of dollars in options premium in early September.

Since September 8, six of the seven stocks highlighted in those bets have seen brutal selloffs:

• CoreWeave: -37.4%
• SK Hynix: -25.8%
• SanDisk: -23.8%
• $DRAM: -22.9%
• Bloom Energy: -18.1%
• Intel: -9.4%
• AMD: +9.1%

That’s an average decline of -18.3% across the seven stocks, though his actual portfolio losses depend on position sizes, option terms and subsequent trades.

He might be right about AI’s long-term future, yet options are unforgiving towards timelines.

⚡️ LATEST: Anthropic is being pressured to DELAY its massive IPO over AI safety concerns.

NYC Comptroller Mark Levine, who oversees public pension funds holding more than $325 BILLION, urged the company to address safety and governance concerns before going public.

“Instead of proceeding headlong with its IPO, the company should focus its energies on addressing these unprecedented risks.”

Anthropic has opened discussions with Levine, who warns that a major safety incident after listing could severely hurt investors.

With an IPO reportedly targeted as early as November, AI safety is becoming an investor concern ahead of what could be one of history’s largest listings.

🔍 Has the “Bankpocalypse” begun?

America’s biggest bank stocks are taking a beating, with reported declines from their highs ranging from 11% to 25%.

• JPMorgan: -11%
• Bank of America: -19%
• Citigroup: -15%
• Wells Fargo: -18.5%
• Goldman Sachs: -24%
• Morgan Stanley: -19%
• U.S. Bancorp: -15%
• Capital One: -25%
• PNC Financial: -16%

The KBW Nasdaq Bank Index, tracking 24 U.S. banking stocks, was recently reported down roughly 14% from its August peak, firmly in CORRECTION territory.

Banks weakening while the broader market remains near highs deserves attention.

‼️ HUGE: A record number of S&P 500 stocks are moving AGAINST the index, according to a reported Evercore tally.

These stocks have negative beta, meaning their returns have moved opposite to the broader index over the period measured.

With larger companies carrying more weight, a handful of giants can lift the S&P 500 while many other stocks struggle, masking a deeply divided market beneath the headline numbers.

The divergence shows how little the index can reveal about individual portfolios.

🇺🇸 BREAKING: U.S Federal judge threatens sanctions against President Trump for refusing to testify in his own $10 BILLION defamation lawsuit against the BBC.

Trump’s legal team reportedly pulled him from a scheduled deposition, citing “matters of national importance,” and said he may not be available until January 2027, after the case’s discovery deadline.

Judge Enjolique A. Lett warned that Trump’s repeated lack of participation must end, ordering him to respond by October 22. The BBC is seeking to compel his testimony.

Trump sued the BBC’s editing of his January 6 speech, which the broadcaster has apologized for while denying defamation.

🔥Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin builds a “paranoid mode” for his AI agent using zkAPI, Tor and cover traffic.

Each conversation gets its own Tor circuit, and requests are masked with random cover traffic.

His zkAPI tool ensures users don’t leak their identity through payments.

All prompts are also rewritten locally by the user’s own AI model.

Buterin says it adds “quite a bit” of latency and that Tor is “far from optimal here for privacy.”

📺 THE BUREAU ROLLUP - 16th October, Friday.

Here's everything you might have missed on our YouTube today!

➖➖➖➖

📺 What Happens If Trump Loses The Midterms?
Finance Bureau · Guy Turner
A scenario piece on what changes mechanically if Democrats take the House or the Senate next month. Guy walks through the oversight powers a chamber majority unlocks — investigations, subpoenas, public hearings — and how congressional control of the purse constrains a president's agenda, his appointments and the debt ceiling. It also sets out what the video expects this would mean for crypto markets, and the strategic dilemma it sees facing Democratic leadership if they do win.

📺 The Future of Stock Trading Is 24/7 | Vishal Gupta
The Bureau Podcast · Aaron Dishner
Vishal Gupta ran Coinbase Exchange and helped launch USDC at Circle; he now runs True Markets, and his argument to Aaron is that crypto is turning from a speculative asset class into the plumbing underneath round-the-clock global markets. The genuinely useful part is the detail on what you actually own when you buy a tokenised Nvidia or Tesla — voting rights, pre-IPO access, and why some tokenised assets trade at prices that aren't fair. He also makes the case that stablecoin holders deserve a share of the reserve income, and is notably cautious about handing portfolios to AI agents.

📺 Which AI BEATS All The Others
AI Bureau · Marc Shawn Brown
Most model comparisons online are already out of date — every major lineup changed over the summer, and OpenAI switched o3 off the day before this was made. Four current models tested on what actually shipped rather than what was announced, alongside the pricing changes that quietly break most comparisons. The practical warnings are about where a bill can escalate without you noticing, and about trusting a model on work it isn't good at.

📺 Crypto Still Looks Great! Get Ready For Weekend Pumps!
Trading Bureau · Aaron Dishner
Aaron's read is that this week's chop looks like a copy of the August and September setup, where a sweep of the lows led straight into a rally — so despite hot inflation numbers rattling everything, he thinks the bullish case still stands. He's equally clear about what would break it, which is the more useful half. The standing advice is unchanged: buy dips and sell rips while the uptrend holds, take profits into big pumps, and treat a 25 to 30 percent pullback after a huge rally as normal rather than catastrophic.

📺 Bitcoin Defends $80K Level As Fed Hike Risks Move Closer to Year-End
Coin Bureau · Guy Turner 🔒 MEMBERS ONLY
Bitcoin dipped below the level everyone has been watching and buyers took it straight back, which counts as encouraging given the week risk assets have had. The MSCI decision has now landed, and the timeline attached to it runs well into November. There's also a puzzle in the bond market, where a bad inflation print somehow produced falling yields rather than rising ones.
