U.S. intelligence believes Russia has extensively mapped critical cables linking Europe and North America, as well as connections across the Baltic Sea and between Britain and continental Europe.

Polish authorities have been urged to prepare their banking infrastructure for potential disruptions that could interfere with international financial transactions.

Although the network is designed to reroute traffic when individual cables fail, officials are treating the possibility of coordinated sabotage as a serious threat.
