🧠 ChatGPT now watches what you do — and remembers

OpenAI has added Computer History to its macOS desktop app: the assistant tracks your clicks and keystrokes, builds a timeline, and makes it available to both ChatGPT and Codex.

In a demo, OpenAI's Dominic Kundel showed the app locating a recent document, checking whether it was sent in Slack, and summarising the morning — minus the small talk.

The Windows Recall comparison is inevitable — Microsoft's feature once caused an outcry for silently grabbing screenshots. OpenAI says this captures only "events," no images or video. What counts as an "event" remains helpfully vague.

The feature is opt-in; you can exclude apps and delete entries manually. The company building AGI kindly asks you to tick a box so it doesn't accidentally surveil you.

🤖 AI on the right side of the heist

A "red team" is the group that attacks its own infrastructure on purpose — finding holes before someone less friendly does. Bitcoin just got one, powered by frontier AI.

A volunteer initiative ran Claude, GPT, Kimi K3, and GLM 5.2 across 150 repositories and found over a dozen vulnerabilities in wallets, cryptographic libraries, and core infrastructure. Developer Calle posted the pace on X: "one critical exploit per hour per person" — burning $10,000 a day, per Decrypt.

The backdrop makes it sharper: earlier this year Claude found a four-year-old Zcash flaw that would've allowed unlimited counterfeit ZEC. The Boltz bridge suspended operations after attackers started finding bugs faster than the team could patch them.

The AI is scanning either way — the only question is who files the report first.

⚽ Ronaldo is probably done

Well, here we are. Ronaldo sat down with Vogue — it was actually a wedding interview, he and Georgina Rodriguez officially got married on Tuesday — and somewhere in the middle of it he just said: "This is probably my last year of football."

He's 41. Five Ballon d'Ors, five Champions League titles, goals in England, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia. He's 24 goals short of 1,000 for his career and says he wants to "leave a spectacular legacy." His Al-Nassr contract runs one more year. It all kind of lines up.

⚽ The record that waited 13 years

Islam Makhachev — former lightweight champion who moved up a division and immediately claimed the welterweight belt — has just rewritten UFC history. At UFC 330 in Philadelphia, he defended his title against Ireland's Ian Machado Garry with his 17th straight UFC win, breaking Anderson Silva's record that had stood since 2012.

The numbers are blunt: 12 minutes of control time to Garry's 34 seconds, seven unanswered takedowns. Machado Garry survived, scrapped, and bloodied Makhachev's face — and still lost by unanimous decision. The record now reads 29–1, and as BBC Sport notes, the debate over the greatest UFC fighter ever is no longer a hypothetical.

Silva's record waited 13 years for a new owner. It found one — not the loudest guy at the press conference.

🏏 Bangladesh beat top-ranked Australia by nine wickets in Darwin — the country's first-ever Test win on Australian soil. Hasan Mahmud took 6-55 in the first innings; Mehidy Hasan Miraz wrapped up the second with 5-66. BBC Sport calls it one of the most embarrassing defeats Australia have ever suffered in Test cricket.

💸 Stripe in talks to acquire PayPal

Per the Wall Street Journal, Stripe and private equity firm Advent International are negotiating a buyout of PayPal — a July offer of $60.50 per share ($53 billion total) was rejected, and the parties are now discussing a higher price, with a potential announcement in the coming weeks.

🤖 Waymo clears 18 counties in California

Waymo has run commercial robotaxis in San Francisco and Los Angeles for years, expanding zone by zone as regulators approve each step. The California Public Utilities Commission just granted its largest clearance yet: 18 counties statewide, bringing Sacramento and San Diego into the fold for the first time.

The January 2026 application hit some regulatory friction before getting through. Rides will operate on Jaguar I-Pace vehicles and the new Ojai minivan built by Chinese manufacturer Zeekr, with a gradual rollout tied to Waymo's safety framework.

Both new cities had been in the pipeline since late 2025, with fully driverless test rides already underway. The commercial approval, per Engadget, is the next step in that same sequence.

🚗 Kia has priced the EV3 for the US at $30,945 all-in — below the company's own $35,000 target. It offers 321 miles of range and charges 10–80% in about 31 minutes. The Verge notes it's now the most affordable EV in Kia's lineup.

Burnley wore Finotive One — a Cyprus-registered "trading ecosystem" barely anyone had heard of — throughout pre-season and their first League Cup match. Then, 42 days after signing, the deal was scrapped to protect "the club's interests." Sure.

A Schwarzenegger promo video went with it. Fans get a swap for Vertu Motors, a car dealership that's been quietly partnering with the club since 2022.

Under owners AIK Capital, Burnley have burned through LoveBet, SpreadEx, W88 and 96.com — the last dropped after anti-money laundering breaches, per BBC Sport. Finotive One was the fresh start. Six weeks, apparently, is fresh enough.

🎮 Wolverine on PS5 — not a tradeoff anymore

Insomniac confirmed that 60 FPS with ray tracing is the default mode on base PS5 for Marvel's Wolverine. Not PS5 Pro, not a buried setting — just on by default. First time the studio has shipped it that way.

Mike Fitzgerald, head of tech, said the old pattern was always ray tracing getting squeezed into performance mode last minute. This time they built the whole game around that target from day one.

Also — this isn't Spider-Man's Manhattan. Canada wilderness, Madripoor, reactive foliage, and most props are fully destructible. Logan's kind of a lot.

💸 Bezos buys into Liverpool

Jeff Bezos — Amazon founder, third-richest person alive, worth around $272 billion — has never invested in a sports team before. That changes now: he's taking a minority stake in Liverpool FC.

Fenway Sports Group sold roughly a third of the club across several deals, valuing Liverpool at just over $7 billion per the New York Times. Bezos came in through a consortium called K5 Sports; also buying in are a group led by UK investor Amit Bhatia and EE Capital, tied to Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. FSG keeps majority control.

Same week: Bob Iger and Josh Kushner announced a deal to buy the LA Lakers for $12.5 billion. Variety reports the Liverpool deal still needs regulatory approval.

💸 Crypto grew up and asked for a license

In the first half of 2026, crypto raised $11.2 billion — and none of it went to the permissionless projects the industry was supposedly built on.

Dubai lawyer Irina Heaver of NeosLegal tracked 377 rounds. Top sectors: payments and stablecoins ($3.7B), prediction markets ($2B), exchanges ($1.7B) — all requiring licenses.

Kalshi pulled $1B from Sequoia and Morgan Stanley, Polymarket took $600M from the NYSE's parent, Mastercard bought BVNK for $1.8B. The logic, per one investor: code gets forked over a weekend, a VARA license takes 18–24 months and millions. The market isn't buying the product anymore — it's buying the head start.

🧪 A radiation vest flew to the Moon and back — and it worked

Solar storms are real enough to plan around. The 1972 burst hit between Apollo 16 and 17 — a crew in transit would have been in serious trouble. The Moon and Mars have none of Earth's atmospheric cover, and no spacecraft shields well enough on its own.

Israeli-American startup StemRad tried a different approach: shield the astronaut, not the ship. Their AstroRad vest rode NASA's uncrewed Artemis I to the Moon and back in 2022. Modelled against a real solar storm, it performs on par with the dedicated shelter inside the Orion capsule.

Decades of spacecraft shielding research kept hitting the same wall: mass. A vest puts that mass exactly where it matters.

It's seen the Moon already. Mars is next.
