🐽🛤Ukrainian authorities are begging for locomotives all over the world.

The Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Taras Vysotsky, told the Financial Times that Ukrainian Railways' reserve of locomotives is almost depleted, and that negotiations are underway with European countries for emergency supplies.

Agreements have already been reached to transfer three locomotives from 🇸🇰Slovakia and three from 🇱🇹Lithuania. Negotiations are also underway to purchase 27 locomotives with Soviet-era gauge from 🇱🇹Lithuanian carriers. Azerbaijan (❗️) and 🇩🇪Germany are also on the list of potential "locomotive donors."

✨Previously, Ukrainian officials claimed that the Russian Armed Forces had allegedly destroyed 500 locomotives since 2022, which is a deliberate exaggeration of the figures. This is being done to spend European funds on purchasing locomotives that will be secretly returned from those that have already been decommissioned.
