🔼Bitcoin has closed a week above its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks. Galaxy Research looked at 13 similar moves since 2011 - in 11 cases, Bitcoin did not go on to make a new market low.

⌛ But 11 out of 13 isn’t 13 out of 13. The two failures came in late 2021 and early 2022. Bitcoin reclaimed the same moving average, failed to hold it, and eventually fell toward $16,000. That’s why what happens after the breakout matters just as much as the breakout itself.

❓ Altcoin Volume Is Surging - Altseason or a Warning?

🔼 Altcoin spot trading volume is now nearly 4x Bitcoin’s, the highest level since September 2025. Around 72.5% of tracked altcoins are also outperforming BTC, up sharply from 39% in August.

💡 Wintermute says retail traders appear to be taking profits from Bitcoin and rotating into alts. But there’s another side to the story: historically, similar periods of heavy altcoin rotation have often appeared near short-term Bitcoin tops, with more than 80% followed by sideways or weaker markets in the weeks after.

😁 Bitcoin jumped 24.6% in just five days, but open interest actually fell 12.6% at the same time. Around 64,000 BTC worth of positions were closed, with shorts accounting for 89% of liquidations.

That suggests much of the rally came from short sellers being forced to buy back, rather than fresh money entering the market. Options and futures data told a similar story: the short end repriced quickly, while longer-dated contracts barely moved.

✨ The SEC’s new five-year innovation exemption could open the door for tokenized U.S. stocks to trade through AMMs on public blockchains, while still keeping real shareholder rights like dividends and voting.

💵 Analysts at Goldman Sachs and Citizens see Coinbase, Robinhood and Circle among the companies that could benefit, although there’s still work to do. Coinbase may need new AMM infrastructure, Robinhood’s current stock tokens don’t yet provide full ownership rights, while USDC could play a role as settlement cash.

The interesting part now isn’t whether stocks can move on-chain - it’s who can build a compliant venue first.

🕯 Geopolitical tensions pushed WTI to $85.10 and Brent to $92.39, while Nasdaq futures slipped 0.5%. Bitcoin, meanwhile, stayed near $77,580 and barely moved despite the broader risk-off reaction.

⭐️It’s an interesting stress test for BTC. Oil jumped, equities wobbled, but Bitcoin held relatively steady. BTC is also up around 23% this month, compared with 9% for gold and 4% for Nasdaq.

🔈 CLARITY Act Stalls in the Senate

After months of negotiations and a revised 635-page proposal containing 126 Democrat-requested changes, the CLARITY Act failed to clear its key Senate procedural vote on Sept. 15. The motion received 49 votes in favor and 50 against, short of the 60 needed to advance.

The revised text had tightened ethics rules for federal officials and addressed issues around stablecoin rewards and protections for blockchain developers. With the bill stalled, attention now shifts toward the SEC and CFTC and how they may shape crypto rules without new legislation from Congress. Senate Banking Chair Tim Scott has explicitly called on the agencies to establish clearer rules while Congress continues its work. For crypto, regulatory clarity is still a work in progress.

TRM Labs analyzed Coinbase’s x402 payment rail, which has processed around $52.7M across 198.9M payments since May 2025. After filtering self-payments and unusual flows, researchers estimated that only around 0.6%–7.5% of the remaining value resembled genuine agent purchases. Much of the activity looked more like automated scripts repeatedly paying the same seller at the same price.
