Continued......Protests erupted at the scene and outside New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital. At least four people were arrested.

The Trace reports agents have fired on people in at least 31 incidents, klling 11. Newsweek catalogued eleven people shot by ICE or Border Patrol in 2026 alone, including Renée Good, a U.S. citizen klled in Minneapolis, and Alex Pretti, a nurse sh*t while observing federal activity.

“This is another reminder of the unchecked violence ICE is spreading,” said Murad Awawdeh of the New York Immigration Coalition.

Protesters blamed New York’s political class. “ICE is shooting people in broad daylight. Where’s Hochul? Where’s Mamdani? Where’s AOC?” one said. “These politicians are cowards.”

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he spent two hours negotiating Belgal’s release with Trump and DHS Secretary Mullin, without success. Hochul urged federal officials to halt ICE operations and release body camera footage.

Mamdani said agents in construction vests and masks surrounded the vehicle before firing. “This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation,” he said, adding: “ICE is rotten to its core.” However, protesters have asked why ICE is still operational in the first place, given the history of New York City as being a sanctuary city for immigrants, and Mamdani’s promise to oppose Trump’s far-right policies.
