New Yorkers protested Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s appearance at an October 7th vigil led by an Isr*eli group, calling him a traitor and a sellout.

Activists have highlighted how after Mamdani used the Plestinian cause to propel to victory, he has retreated from his symbolic words and devoted more resources to protecting synagogues, some of which facilitate the sale of occupied Plestinian land, and directing funds to train the police to conflate anti-semtism with criticism of Isrel.

Political commentator Mehdi Hasan criticised the protesters, pushing a reductionist take and saying they should check themselves into a mental health facility.
