🇰🇷🇰🇵 Seoul Reviews DMZ Blast Response
South Korea said it is reviewing all possible measures after a Sept. 21 land mine explosion in the western DMZ injured three military officers during a search operation. A senior foreign ministry official said Seoul is considering past cases and possible U.N.-related steps, pending the final investigation results, after the Joint Chiefs of Staff blamed North Korea for the blast.
The official cited the 2015 inter-Korean mine incident as a reference case. After that attack, Seoul sent a letter to the U.N. Security Council, resumed border loudspeaker broadcasts, and raised military readiness; the U.N. Command has separately said the latest explosion violated the Armistice Agreement.
North Korea has denied responsibility, accused the South of fabricating its findings, and warned of retaliation if its troops come under fire. Seoul said further steps will follow once the investigation is completed.
