🇭🇰🇨🇳 Hong Kong Defines 5-Year Priorities
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said the city’s first five-year plan reaffirms its role as a global city and market economy under “one country, two systems” during a National Day reception on Thursday in Hong Kong. He said the plan, unveiled last month, was designed as a strategic blueprint amid geopolitical change and rapid advances in artificial intelligence.
Lee said the plan is framed under the Basic Law and preserves core features including capitalism, the common law system, and the free flow of capital, people, goods and information. He also identified Hong Kong’s global positioning as a central pillar, with the plan aimed at using the city’s role as a connector between mainland China and international markets.
The plan places emphasis on combining support from national development with access to global resources through Hong Kong’s international platform. It also aligns with Lee’s latest policy address in defining the city’s longer-term economic and strategic orientation.
