🇳🇬 Russia-Ukraine war weapons coming into Lake Chad – Buhari

The conflict in Ukraine and the jihadist insurgency in the Sahel have caused a proliferation of weapons in the countries of the Lake Chad basin. This is the alarm raised by the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, speaking at the opening of the 16th summit of the Commission for the Lake Chad Basin (LCBC), hosted in the capital Abuja.

According to Buhari, weapons used in Ukraine "are starting to seep into the region" and weapons used in the war in Libya "continue to find (their]) way" there, which poses a "major threat" to the security of countries such as Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria.
