🇳🇬🇺🇸 Nigeria, US sign framework to increase American mining investment

Nigeria and the United States have agreed to deepen American investment in Nigeria’s mining sector, with Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake and US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau signing the framework on 23 September in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Nigeria’s minerals ministry said the deal targets investment in the country’s $700 billion mineral resources and is expected to use bilateral ties as a foundation for business-to-business transactions.

Nigeria holds deposits of lithium, gold, tin, gemstones, iron ore and phosphate. Alake said the planned investment would go beyond raw material exports to support local processing, jobs and skills development.
