🇲🇦 Whistleblower details surveillance network used against journalists and activists in Morocco

A whistleblower has alleged that Moroccan authorities used an extensive surveillance network to monitor journalists and activists and to suppress dissent, according to a report published by allAfrica on October 1, 2026. The report says the system was used to track targets, collect personal information, and support pressure campaigns against critical voices.

The allegations add to longstanding concerns by rights groups over restrictions on press freedom and surveillance practices in Morocco. Moroccan authorities have previously denied accusations of unlawful spying and targeting of critics.
