It also perpetuates the misconception that because something is American, it must automatically be just or worth defending.

Loving one's country shouldn’t mean ignoring its weaknesses, or ongoing flaws. A truly strong nation should be able to acknowledge its mistakes, protect what is worth preserving, and continuously strive for improvement. Furthermore, these Americanists often romanticize a group of individuals that has set nails at the doorstop outside the house of the White Man.
