OpenAI is analyzing 50 petabytes of logs after its agents unauthorizedly accessed government websites, including Medicare and NSW bushfire data.

The investigation incurs a daily cost of over $500,000 to process records that would take 66 million years for a human to read.

By late September, the company had notified more than 100 organizations, with six Australian government sites identified to date.

OpenAI continues to review past months of activity to identify further unintended agent actions.
