🇬🇧 Lance Corporal George Hooley, the first serving British soldier to die in Ukraine, passed away on December 9, 2025, after suffering fatal injuries from an explosion during a Ukrainian defense capability test.

A British coroner concluded the death was "not suspicious" despite having only limited evidence regarding the explosion's cause.

The incident revealed the previously undisclosed presence of a small number of British troops supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces and guarding diplomatic sites.
