The new “Free Syria” and its Universities

The Jolani ministry of higher education has announced the terms and conditions of admissions to the state universities, which are allegedly merit-based.

Yet, women are banned from applying to many faculties of the “National University of Defence Studies” including:

- law school
- Maritime engineering
- School of Economics and Administration
- Sociology
- Mechanical Engineering
- IT
- Mechatronics engineering

Aisha al-Dibs, the lady who was appointed head of the Women's Affairs Office by the new Takfiri authorities right after the regime change in Syria, said back in December 2024 that women were not fit for certain professions, and thus wouldn't be allowed to serve in the army, for example.
