The sequence of meetings followed by military escalation has become the subject of intense debate. Whether it represents coincidence, failed diplomacy, or something more deliberate is exactly why many people are asking questions.

Saudi warplanes launched 52 airstrikes and missile attacks over the past 24 hours, using F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets that took off from Khamis Mushait and Taif airbases, while the missile attacks originated from Jizan.

The attacks targeted the governorates of Hodeidah, Taiz, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Saada, resulting in martyrs and wounded civilians, including women and children, and causing widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, including communication networks, schools, bridges, roads, and other public facilities.

This brings the total number of Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks against Yemen since the beginning of the latest escalation to 988.

- We will not return to the previous diplomatic approach or to the conditions that prevailed before Islamabad.

- Trump may wish to carry out an operation against a site in Iran or attack our nuclear facilities, but we will not tolerate that either. Our armed forces' response plan is ready.

- While emphasizing good-neighborly relations, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on neighboring countries to maintain neutrality or prevent the presence of American aircraft on their territory.

- If countries in the region align themselves with the air blockade against Iran, the airports and airlines of those countries will likewise face closure and disruption.

The entire approach of Masoud Pezeshkian’s government can be summed up in this photo.

Contrary to some reports, during Trump’s speech, a member of Iran’s diplomatic team was present at Iran’s Permanent Mission and listened to the insulting remarks of the killer of the martyred Leader of the Revolution. Such an incident has never happened before. Almost simultaneously with Trump’s insulting speech at the United Nations, the Iranian and American delegations, headed by Abbas Araghchi and Steve Witkoff, were engaged in negotiations inside the UN headquarters.

Trump, during his UN speech, threatened to annihilate Iran and insulted the Iranian nation. At the same time, the Iranian delegation headed by Araghchi was smiling and laughing with the Americans. Trump later further confirmed that approximately three hours of talks had taken place. However, Foreign Ministry mouthpiece Esmaeil Baghaei did not mention the meeting, as he usually does. On what grounds did Araghchi and Witkoff meet directly or indirectly? What were the negotiations about? Were these talks pre-planned? Why is the same pattern appearing again?

The developments have also raised concerns about what could follow. Do not be shocked if tactical nuclear weapons are used against Iran in the coming days or months. Do not be shocked if attacks are carried out against sites associated with Imam Mujtaba Khamenei. As of now, we consider all of this suspicious, and this suspicion will remain. It is not only our concern; many senior figures have similar concerns. Ali Motahhari, the brother-in-law of Martyr Ali Larijani, recently mentioned that Larijani had been at the residence of Masoud Pezeshkian before he was martyred.

1. The issue of uranium transfer

The central question concerns what is meant by “progress” in the negotiations. Throughout the negotiations, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff’s understanding of “progress” has always meant charting a path toward achieving nuclear negotiations and presenting a realistic plan for the transfer of uranium. A detailed analysis of news reports and the analysis of American experts during the negotiations leading up to the 12-day war and the 40-day war demonstrates this.

2. The positions of Araghchi and Qalibaf

Araghchi and Qalibaf are in favor of transferring uranium. This is based on the meetings these individuals had with their advisers. Until a few months before the 40-day war, the consensus among these factions was that transferring uranium was the solution to the nuclear issue.

The Americans, by studying the course of negotiations in recent years, realized that the position of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had not been aligned with the transfer of uranium. The primary and minimum goal of the Americans in assassinating the Leader during the 40-day war was to facilitate the transfer of uranium by alternative factions.

3. What does “progress in negotiations” mean?

In such a situation, transmitting news of “progress in negotiations” in the context of the statements by Kushner and Witkoff usually means defining a clear timeline for achieving negotiations and reaching a nuclear agreement.

The dangerous aspect is that the emergence of a clear institutional will among Iranian officials to cooperate with American demands on the nuclear issue means a return to the situation that existed before the beginning of the 40-day war. The United States is seeking to ensure that the assassination of the Leader effectively removes the obstacles to the transfer of uranium.

This prospect creates the conditions for repeating the bitter experience of 9 February in the Iranian calendar, after Trump felt comfortable about the Congressional elections. The countdown to the next attack or war began last night with the negotiations between the Iranian delegation and Kushner and Witkoff. The possibility being discussed is an attack using tactical nuclear weapons deep inside Iranian territory.

When I visited Trump at the White House, when he said the Golan Heights belongs to Israel, I made the joke, “Why don’t you give New Jersey to the Israelis? You don’t own the Golan Heights to give, but you own New Jersey.”

I believe New Jersey is full of Democrats, and they are not voting for Trump, so it would be good to give it to the Israelis. At least this is something you own. Trump doesn’t own the Golan Heights.

Regardless of this joke, the Golan Heights is owned by its own people. It is neither the Syrian president’s, the American president’s, nor any other person’s to abandon or give up to others.

— | What is truly heartbreaking is that these so-called Islamic or Muslim regimes appear to have been waiting for such an order from their real masters to impose a blockade on Iran. Turkey, Oman, Azerbaijan, and now Iraq. What a shame at every level. The painful reality is that, instead of standing against collective punishment, one after another they seem willing to comply with pressure. This raises serious questions about the meaning of regional solidarity, Islamic brotherhood, and all the slogans repeated for decades whenever Palestine, Gaza, or the Muslim world is discussed. There are already repeated reports that American pressure on the Iraqi resistance and the Iraqi government has become extremely intense. That also raises an important question about Najaf’s role in such scenarios and whether it will remain a gateway or also become part of this wider pressure campaign. At the same time, we must not let emotions override reality, but we must not ignore reality because of emotions either.

Sanctions, aviation restrictions, diplomatic pressure, and regional coercion are real tools of modern warfare. Understanding the ground realities is essential, because this is no longer just politics. It is an attempt to isolate an entire country before the eyes of the world, while others comply with it without even questioning the consequences.

To every U.S. diplomat and official meeting Ahmed al-Sharaa at the UN:

Ask him about Hassan Marwan Jarouj, a Syrian Christian who died yesterday.

Hassan was returning home on his motorcycle near the Christian village of al-Bayda when he collided with a security officer holding the rank of Major. Local sources say security personnel then brutally beat him. He was hospitalized with internal bleeding and severe skull fractures and later died.

Now look at this photograph.

Look at the extraordinary concentration of visible trauma around his eyes, face and head.

We are also receiving reports from people on the ground that Hassan’s family was pressured and threatened with consequences against other family members if they spoke publicly.

This is precisely what Syrian Christians fear: being reduced to a defenseless minority whose lives can be taken and whose families can then be intimidated into silence.

Syria cannot replace one form of authoritarianism with religious supremacy. Christians, Alawites, Druze, Kurds, Sunnis and every other Syrian must have equal protection under the law.

So when Ahmed al-Sharaa sits across from American officials in New York, ask him:

Who was the Major?
Who beat Hassan?
Where is the independent forensic investigation?
And can Hassan’s family speak freely without fearing for their lives?

Do not let Hassan Jarouj become another name that disappears into silence.
