The US has excluded Britain, France and the Baltic states from a meeting in Poland next month organized by Pentagon policy chief Elbridge Colby to discuss the future of NATO, according to The Telegraph.
■ The meeting is part of Colby's push to reshape the alliance into what he calls "NATO 3.0," under which European governments would increase military spending to 5% of GDP and take primary responsibility for the continent's conventional defense as Washington pivots to China.
■ The exclusion comes after recent tensions between the US and its allies. The Telegraph reported that Washington threatened to oppose Britain's colonial control over the Falkland Islands if Prime Minister Andy Burnham did not increase military spending to 5% of GDP.
