#Update: Two sources from the family of Dr. Mahdi Osama Sanduq told us that the doctor has not died and is still receiving treatment in the hospital following a shooting with a sectarian motive by a Syrian refugee recently returned from Germany.

The family also reported that a number of media outlets on the social media have justified the sectarian attack by claiming the doctor is a Shia from Iraq. The family affirmed that they are a longstanding Syrian family from #Damascus who belong to the Shitte community.
