The panel zeroes in on cultural, social, and economic aspects of life and thought under postwar Soviet socialism, which made it distinct from its Stalinist predecessor as well as its capitalist counterparts. To capture its distinct historicity, we propose to rethink such cardinal concepts and experiences of Soviet life as beauty, knowledge, inequality, and exploitation.
