Hussein al-Houthi, founder of Yemen’s Ansar Allah, speaking in 2003:

“Most of the Arabs now are turned toward America as if it were a god, obeying it in whatever it wants: ‘Let it do what it wants, carry out whatever it wills, do whatever it pleases—and do not ask about what it does.’

This is truly how they deal with it—as if it were a god!

So those who set out to face it mean: ‘We will never call upon any god other than God, the way you do.’

And indeed it was said that ‘the Hour will not come until the Arabs worship a house other than the Kaaba.’

It does indeed appear—the Arabs now turn toward the White House. They no longer turn toward the House of God.”

“You now have 57 leaders. What have these done before a group of Jews?

Nothing.

And under 57 leaders, how many are there?

One billion three hundred million Muslims.

They have immense wealth under them, and beneath their feet a very important strategic region; yet you see them as nothing.

They do not dare say a single word except a few of them. And when the few speak, the others are in such a condition that perhaps it is impossible for them to respond to his word and move to serious practical positions. There is nothing.

Thus the community lost two exceedingly important things, among the foremost foundations for building a community…

‘And when We made the House a place of return for the people and a sanctuary’ [Qur’an 2:125].

At the same time it is a sanctuary: no one may do any harm to others within the precinct of that House at all.

For that reason the Messenger of God’s entry into Mecca—may God’s blessings be upon him and his family—was wisely conducted so as to avoid any harm to any person, even the disbelievers within Mecca…

The most precise arrangements achieved the conquest of Mecca and the complete breaking of the power of disbelief while preserving the inviolability of the Sacred House and this divine principle: that He made it a place of return for people and a sanctuary.

For this reason it was a very great crime when, in 1407 AH [1987], the Saudis killed hundreds of Muslims in that dreadful massacre, killing more than four hundred people.

God had forbidden the hunting even of a dove, giving it inviolability; yet these people killed four hundred.

Since then, the Saudi state’s standing has not been restored; its standing truly has not been restored, because God said:

‘Whoever intends to deviate by doing wrong in it… We will cause them to taste a painful punishment.’ [Qur’an 22:25]

The Saudi state has declined from that day until now, and do not expect it ever to rise for the better; rather, it will decline until it disappears and ends in painful punishment—a spiritual punishment, and God knows what forms of punishment there will be.”
